🇧🇯 Football : Le Bénin en progression dans le classement FIFA, mais des défis restent à relever ⚽
Le classement FIFA publié ce jeudi 19 septembre 2024 présente une avancée notable pour l’équipe nationale du Bénin, les Guépards, qui se positionnent désormais à la 89e place mondiale, gagnant ainsi deux places par rapport au classement de juin dernier. Bien que cette progression témoigne des efforts de l’équipe sous la direction de Gernot Rohr, elle souligne également les défis à relever pour consolider cette ascension et rivaliser avec les meilleures équipes africaines.
Une progression constante mais fragile
En mars 2024, le Bénin occupait la 97e place mondiale, avant de grimper au 91e rang en juin, et aujourd’hui à la 89e place. Cette progression constante résulte des récentes performances internationales, notamment la victoire contre la Libye (2-1) lors de la dernière trêve internationale en septembre. Cependant, la lourde défaite contre le Nigéria (3-0) a rappelé que l’équipe béninoise doit encore travailler pour se hisser au niveau des grandes sélections africaines.
Le Bénin au 18e rang africain : un palier à consolider
Sur le continent africain, le Bénin grimpe d’un rang pour se classer 18e. Cette position est encourageante, mais elle reste encore loin des poids lourds du football africain comme le Sénégal, l’Égypte, et le Maroc, qui dominent les classements. Pour le Bénin, cette 18e place est à la fois une opportunité et un défi. Elle démontre que les Guépards sont en mesure de progresser, mais que des efforts constants sont nécessaires pour se maintenir dans cette dynamique et viser une place parmi les 15 meilleures équipes africaines.
Des échéances cruciales en octobre pour confirmer la dynamique
La prochaine étape importante pour les Guépards sera la double confrontation avec le Rwanda en octobre 2024, dans le cadre des éliminatoires de la CAN 2025. Ces rencontres seront décisives pour confirmer les progrès réalisés et maintenir l’élan positif.
