TUNIS – Dans un geste inattendu, le président tunisien Kais Saied a limogé mercredi le Premier ministre Ahmed Hachani, qui n’aura passé qu’un an au pouvoir. Kamal Maduri, jusqu’alors ministre des Affaires sociales, a été nommé pour le remplacer, selon un communiqué officiel de la présidence.

Un Mandat Écourté

Ahmed Hachani avait exprimé quelques heures avant sa destitution que son gouvernement avait réalisé des progrès notables malgré des défis importants, notamment les prix élevés des denrées alimentaires et de l’énergie, ainsi que des pannes d’eau et d’électricité à travers le pays. Hachani avait attribué ces problèmes à une sécheresse persistante qui avait conduit au rationnement de l’eau.

Contexte Politique et Réactions

La décision de Kais Saied intervient alors qu’Ahmed Hachani avait annoncé son intention de se présenter à l’élection présidentielle d’octobre prochain. Cette déclaration avait suscité une vive réaction de l’opposition, des organisations de défense des droits de l’homme et d’autres candidats, qui l’accusaient de réprimer et d’intimider ses rivaux pour obtenir un second mandat.
