Le lundi 24 juillet 2023 marquera une étape importante dans la coopération entre le Bénin et le Nigeria. Bachir Adewale Adeniyi, le Directeur Général des douanes du Nigeria, sera en visite de travail au Bénin pour renforcer les liens entre les administrations douanières des deux nations.
Cette visite a pour but de dynamiser les échanges commerciaux entre les deux pays et de définir une stratégie commune pour lutter contre la fraude. Ceci s’inscrit dans le prolongement de la coopération économique initiée par les présidents Patrice Talon et Bola Tinubu.
Un programme dense attend Adeniyi et sa délégation, accueillis par le Directeur Général des douanes du Bénin, Alain Hinkati. Après les honneurs militaires, une série de rencontres et de visites est prévue. Les deux directeurs auront un tête-à-tête suivi par une séance de travail avec le ministre d’Etat, chargé de l’Economie et des finances, Romuald Wadagni. La délégation nigériane aura l’occasion de découvrir le système de dématérialisation des procédures de dédouanement à Webb Fontaine et le système de suivi des marchandises à Benin Control. La visite du Port autonome de Cotonou clôturera cette tournée.
Après un déjeuner avec les opérateurs économiques et les commissionnaires en douane agréés du Bénin, les deux Directeurs généraux tiendront une réunion de synthèse avant une conférence de presse. Il est à noter que Adeniyi et Hinkati avaient déjà eu l’occasion d’échanger lors de sessions de l’Organisation mondiale de la douane à Bruxelles. Cette visite à Cotonou marque donc une continuité dans la volonté d’une coopération fructueuse entre les deux administrations douanières.
