À l’approche des élections générales de 2026, le paysage politique béninois est en pleine ébullition. Au cœur de cette effervescence, les mouvements de soutien tous azimuts pour Olivier Boko qui gagnent en influence. Cependant, un silence pesant émane des deux grands partis politiques soutenant Patrice Talon depuis quelques semaines. L’Union Progressiste le Renouveau (UPR) et de son président, Joseph Djogbénou ont rompu le silence.
Dans un entretien récemment accordé au quotidien Fraternité, Joseph Djogbénou a choisi une posture surprenante. Plutôt que de se positionner clairement sur l’échiquier politique de 2026, il a préféré détourner l’attention vers des problématiques actuelles. Si la rentrée scolaire et la santé publique sont des préoccupations valables, l’omission de la question électorale est flagrante dans l’entretien. Une telle approche, en période pré-électorale, laisse perplexe et suscite des interrogations sur les véritables intentions du président de l’UPR.
Selon plusieurs analystes politiques, l’attitude de Djogbénou face à la montée des mouvements de Soutien pour Olivier Boko est tout aussi énigmatique. Alors que la candidature probable de Olivier Boko anime tous les débats au sein mème de l’UPR et positionne cet Chef d’Entreprise comme un acteur incontournable de la scène politique, le silence de l’UPR à son égard est assourdissant. Est-ce une stratégie délibérée ou un simple oubli? Dans son entretien l’ancien Président de la Cour Constitutionnelle, parle d’agitations pour évoquer les mutations politiques majeures en cours.
Un autre point d’incohérence notable relevé dans le discours de Djogbénou concerne la gestion des ressources minières, évoquées en termes vagues comme étant en “espérance”. Dans un pays où la gestion des ressources est primordiale pour l’avenir économique, une telle ambiguïté interroge. Plus loin, la comparaison avec la situation politique au Niger, soulignée par Djogbénou, bien qu’intéressante, semble déplacée dans le contexte actuel. En effet, aborder la fragilité de la démocratie ailleurs, tout en éludant les enjeux électoraux imminents du Bénin est pour le moins paradoxal.
Les mois à venir seront décisifs pour l’UPR et pour Djogbénou. Face à la montée en puissance d’un candidat probable pour la majorité présidentielle , ils devront choisir : continuer dans l’ambiguïté ou s’affirmer clairement sur la scène politique.

L’universitaire pense plutôt que « Nous gagnerions mieux la confiance de notre peuple en faisant en sorte que là où il y a une école que cette école soit ouverte à la rentrée prochaine avec des infrastructures adéquates ; là où il n’y a pas de centre de santé, qu’un centre de santé soit ouvert ; concentrons-nous à faire ouvrir la construction du plus grand hôpital en chantier dans Abomey-Calavi ; travaillons à renforcer nos infrastructures routières. Ne nous détournons pas de l’essentiel ni de l’urgence que constitue la réponse à la demande sociale. Notre pays a plus de défis à surmonter que les autres »
En clair, l’UP le Renouveau, précise son Président, décidera, « à travers ses instances, le moment opportun de ses choix et continuer à être les soldats de la protection de notre démocratie. Pour le moment, nous sommes aux côtés du président de la République pour contribuer à la réalisation du Programme d’action du gouvernement ».
