Les morgues de la commune d’Abomey, à l’instar de plusieurs autres à l’échelle nationale, font face à une situation préoccupante : une accumulation de corps abandonnés par des familles, parfois depuis des années. Confronté à ce problème croissant, le préfet du département prend la parole et donne un ultimatum à ces familles.

“Les morts chez nous sont respectés”, déclare le préfet . Selon lui, il est de la responsabilité des proches de récupérer les dépouilles qu’ils ont déposées dans les morgues, notamment publiques. “Si vous avez déposé un corps dans une morgue, c’est normal que vous veniez le chercher”, insiste-t-il. Devant l’ampleur du phénomène, le préfet ne mâche pas ses mots et donne un ultimatum : les familles ont 30 jours pour récupérer les corps de leurs défunts. Au-delà de ce délai, les autorités prendront les mesures nécessaires pour leur inhumation. Il appelle à la responsabilité des familles en les exhortant à ne pas reprocher par la suite la prise de telles mesures, étant donné l’avertissement clairement donné.

La procédure judiciaire

Le préfet explique qu’un appel a déjà été lancé aux familles ayant des proches en séjour dans ces morgues. Suite à cela, le parquet émettra une réquisition pour obtenir une ordonnance d’un juge. Cette décision judiciaire donnera alors le feu vert aux autorités pour organiser des enterrements dans des fosses communes, si nécessaire. Une action qui, selon lui, s’inscrit dans le cadre de l’application d’une décision de justice.
