L’ancien président américain Donald Trump a perdu son recours contre sa mise à l’écart de la primaire du Parti républicain du Maine, ont annoncé les responsables de l’État le 28 décembre 2023. La Cour suprême du Maine a statué à l’unanimité que Trump ne pouvait pas être inscrit sur le bulletin de vote de la primaire du 1er septembre, car il n’a pas résidé dans l’État pendant au moins six mois avant l’élection.
Trump a déposé un recours contre cette décision, affirmant qu’il était un résident du Maine en vertu de la loi fédérale. Cependant, la Cour suprême du Maine a rejeté son argument, affirmant que la loi fédérale ne s’appliquait pas à l’État.
