🕊️✝️ La Conférence Épiscopale du Bénin intervient sur la crise socio-politique au Niger

Face à la montée des tensions au Niger, la Conférence Épiscopale du Bénin (C.E.B.) a brisé le silence et exprimé sa profonde préoccupation concernant la situation socio-politique de ce pays voisin.
Dans une déclaration officielle datée du 11 août, l’organisation religieuse, présidée par Mgr Roger HOUNGBEDJI, a exhorté à l’espérance, à l’engagement et à la prière pour la paix, décrivant cette dernière comme “le don suprême de Dieu aux hommes”. Soulignant les sanctions imposées au Niger, la C.E.B. a appelé à une révision rapide, citant l’éthique et la solidarité africaine comme motivations essentielles.
Évoquant l’importance du dialogue, de la réconciliation et du consensus, la déclaration rappelle l’esprit de “l’arbre à palabre” ancré dans la tradition africaine. La C.E.B. a également mis en garde contre toute intervention militaire, citant les paroles du Saint Pape Jean-Paul II sur la paix comme “la seule voie pour construire une société plus juste et solidaire”.
La Conférence Épiscopale du Bénin a également lancé un appel spécial, demandant que toutes les paroisses célèbrent une Messe pour la paix le mardi 15 août, à l’occasion de la solennité de l’Assomption de la Vierge Marie. De plus, le vendredi 18 août sera observé comme une journée de jeûne et de prière pour la paix au Niger.
La crise au Niger reste une préoccupation majeure pour la sous-région, et l’intervention de la C.E.B. marque un appel clair à la diplomatie et à la solidarité, renforçant l’espoir d’une solution pacifique.
