Supposé coup d’État de Boko et Homeky : Manipulation de l’opinion ou réalité ?

UP et BR comme les FCBE en 2013

Le 10 octobre 2024, le Collège des imams centraux de l’Atlantique et du Littoral s’est réuni pour une séance de prière à la mosquée centrale de Joncquet à Cotonou, dans le cadre du supposé coup d’État déjoué contre le président Patrice Talon. Cette initiative vise à remercier Allah pour l’échec du putsch présumé et à prier pour la protection du pays et du chef de l’État. Bien que l’initiative religieuse ait mobilisé une  foule de curieux, la question de l’efficacité de telles démarches pour influencer l’opinion publique mérite d’être posée, en particulier dans un contexte où l’affaire est encore loin d’être résolue.

Retour sur le précédent de 2013

Ce type d’initiative n’est pas sans rappeler les événements de 2013 lorsque l’ancien président Boni Yayi accusant l’actuel Président Patrice Talon de vouloir l’empoissonner avec des médicaments (Lyrica, Dafalgan et autres) expédiés depuis la France. Patrice Talon avait crié au canular et la justice lui donnera raison dévoilant le montage politique pour le faire taire. En réaction, les partisans de Boni Yayi avait orchestré des marches et prières en vue de légitimer la thèse de son empoisonnement, dans une affaire où l’opposant Patrice Talon était alors accusé. Malgré les démonstrations publiques de soutien, ces actions n’avaient pas suffi à convaincre l’opinion, ni à forcer l’acceptation de cette version des faits. Finalement, la justice béninoise avait blanchi Talon, discréditant ainsi les efforts de Boni Yayi pour influencer les masses par des actions religieuses et politiques. Cette affaire demeure un rappel pertinent des limites des tentatives visant à manipuler l’opinion à travers des démonstrations publiques, sans preuves solides ou verdict juridique clair.

Les limites de l’affaire Boko

L’affaire actuelle concernant Olivier Boko et Oswald Homeky,  fait l’objet de nombreuses zones d’ombre. Les accusations d’implication dans une tentative de coup d’État restent très controversées. Des doutes persistent quant aux preuves avancées par l’accusation. En particulier, le communiqué de NSIA Banque a mis en lumière des irrégularités, notamment en contestant l’existence du compte bancaire ouvert au nom du Colonel Tévoédjrè. Ce fait majeur fragilise les fondements de l’accusation portée contre lui et remet en question l’authenticité des preuves.

A Cotonou c’est toujours l’attente. L’affaire n’a pas encore été jugée, et toute action visant à présenter Boko comme coupable ou innocent avant le verdict final soulève de nombreuses questions. Comment peut-on justifier des prières d’action de grâce pour un événement dont l’issue judiciaire n’est même pas encore fixée ?   Toutefois, l’histoire béninoise récente, notamment l’affaire d’empoisonnement de 2013, montre que l’opinion publique n’est pas facilement influencée par des démonstrations de prière ou des marches de soutien.
