Sud-Kivu : au moins 5 000 enfants exploités dans les sites miniers à Mwenga (Caritas)
Au cours de la table ronde qu’elle a organisé le vendredi 28 avril à Bukavu, la Caritas Développement d’Uvira a condamné l’exploitation d’au moins cinq mille enfants, dans les activités minières dans le territoire de Mwenga au Sud-Kivu.
La Caritas Développement Uvira interpelle le gouvernement de la RDC à appliquer les textes qui protègent les enfants contre cette ‘’pire forme d’esclavage moderne’’.
« Le territoire de Mwenga fait partie des territoires du Sud-Kivu ayant le nombre important des sites miniers et nous avons été dans vingt-sept sites seulement. Nous avons constaté qu’il y a plus de cinq mille enfants qui sont exploités dans les activités minières dans ce territoire. Avec le partenaire Caritas développement Uvira, qui est aussi accompagné par Caritas Développement de la RDC avec l’appui de l’ORAT, nous avons réalisé ces recherches », a révélé le représentant du territoire de Mwenga à la Table Ronde, le président du Cadre de concertation de la société civile de Mwenga, Hilaire Isombya.
Il interpelle à cet effet, les élus de la province du Sud-Kivu:
« Les enfants souffrent ! Malgré l’existence de l’arsenal juridique de la RDC, il ne s’observe pas un changement. Nous sommes représentés par les gens que nous avons élus et qui ont le mandat de pouvoir interpeller le gouvernement à faire appliquer les textes ».
