Le 19e sommet du Mouvement des Pays Non Alignés, qui s’est tenu récemment à Kampala, la capitale ougandaise, a rassemblé des représentants de plus de 120 pays et plus de 4000 délégués. Cet événement d’envergure internationale a offert une plateforme idéale pour le renforcement et la création de partenariats diplomatiques et économiques entre les nations. Parmi les moments forts, les entretiens entre la vice-présidente de la République du Bénin, Mariam Shabit Talata, et ses homologues du Vietnam et du Sri Lanka.

L’établissement des relations diplomatiques entre le Bénin et le Vietnam remonte à 1973. Le Vietnam, reconnu pour sa production de céréales telles que le riz et le maïs, et leader mondial dans la production de noix de cajou, offre des opportunités de coopération agricole importantes pour le Bénin. La rencontre entre la vice-présidente Talata et son homologue vietnamien s’est inscrite dans la volonté du Bénin de transformer les relations politiques traditionnelles en un partenariat économique mutuellement bénéfique.

Concernant les relations avec le Sri Lanka, elles sont actuellement au beau fixe. La vice-présidente du Bénin a discuté avec le président sri-lankais du renforcement de la coopération dans le secteur agricole, un domaine d’intérêt commun pour les deux pays. Un autre point important abordé lors de cette rencontre a été la facilitation de la libre circulation entre les ressortissants des deux pays, incluant l’exemption de visa pour leurs citoyens respectifs.

Ces discussions au sommet de Kampala illustrent l’engagement croissant du Bénin dans la diplomatie internationale et son désir de tisser des liens plus forts avec d’autres nations.
