🇧🇯 Formation des Parlementaires Béninois : Renforcement du Leadership Féminin et Consolidation de la Démocratie
Cotonou, Bénin – Le Président Louis Gbèhounou Vlavonou a inauguré lundi le séminaire de formation des parlementaires béninois sur le rôle du Caucus des femmes parlementaires du Bénin dans la consolidation de la démocratie et du leadership féminin. Cet événement historique a rassemblé les 29 femmes députées de la 9e législature, des membres de la conférence des présidents, des responsables d’ONG et des représentants de plusieurs partenaires techniques et financiers.
Dans son discours de bienvenue, l’honorable Djamilatou Sabi Mohamed, Présidente du Caucus des femmes parlementaires du Bénin, a exprimé sa reconnaissance envers le Président Talon pour avoir défendu la réforme majeure qui a permis d’augmenter la représentation des femmes à l’Assemblée nationale. Elle a également salué le courage des députés des législatures précédentes qui ont contribué à la réalisation de ces réformes.
Aouale Mohamed Abchir, représentant résident du Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement (PNUD) au Bénin, a souligné que l’augmentation du nombre de femmes dans les instances de prise de décision ne devrait pas être une fin en soi. Il a appelé à ce que les femmes voient leurs intérêts représentés de manière effective pour contribuer à l’avancement de la société, de la politique et de l’économie des femmes.
L’ambassadrice du Canada près le Bénin, S.E.M. Lee-Anne Hermann, a salué les efforts du Caucus des femmes parlementaires du Bénin, créé il y a seulement un an. Elle a souligné que le Canada était fier de financer cet atelier aux côtés du PNUD, qui marque le début des activités du Caucus. Elle a cité l’exemple canadien de la participation des femmes aux organes de prise de décision, où le gouvernement est composé à 50 % de femmes.
Le Président Louis Gbèhounou Vlavonou a clôturé les discours en citant Thomas Sankara, affirmant que “la vraie émancipation de la femme, c’est celle qui responsabilise la femme”. Il a souligné l’importance du renforcement du leadership féminin pour briser les stéréotypes de genre, assurer une représentation équilibrée et garantir une gouvernance inclusive et juste. Le Président a encouragé les participantes à partager leurs expériences, échanger des idées et renforcer leurs compétences en leadership et gouvernance inclusive.
Cet atelier promet de jouer un rôle essentiel dans l’autonomisation des femmes parlementaires béninoises et la consolidation de la démocratie dans le pays.
