🇧🇯👩‍⚖️ Renforcement de la Représentation Féminine au Bénin : Les nouveaux engagements de Patrice Talon

Dans un contexte politique mondial où la représentation féminine demeure un enjeu crucial, le Bénin se positionne comme un modèle de progrès grâce à l’initiative du Président Patrice Talon. Le jeudi 11 janvier 2024, une rencontre historique entre le chef de l’État et 29 femmes parlementaires a eu lieu au Palais de la Marina, marquant un tournant décisif pour l’égalité de genre dans la sphère politique béninoise.

La réunion, tenue en présence du Garde des Sceaux, Ministre de la Justice et de la Législation, Yvon Détchénou, et de la Ministre des Affaires sociales et de la Microfinance, Véronique Tognifodé, a été l’occasion pour les femmes parlementaires d’exprimer leur gratitude envers le président Talon. Grâce à sa vision et son soutien, des modifications importantes ont été apportées à la Loi fondamentale du Bénin et au Code électoral, notamment en ce qui concerne la représentation féminine.

Djamilatou Sabi Mohamed, présidente du Caucus des Femmes parlementaires du Bénin, a souligné le rôle déterminant du Président Talon dans l’accroissement de la présence féminine au parlement, qui compte aujourd’hui 29 femmes. Cette avancée est le fruit de la clairvoyance et de l’engagement du chef de l’État en faveur de l’égalité des sexes.

Les parlementaires ont également formulé une doléance ambitieuse : l’instauration d’un quota de 30% de femmes à différents niveaux de gouvernance locale et nationale, y compris en tant que chefs de villages, conseillères municipales, maires, et parlementaires. Cette proposition vise à renforcer davantage la représentation féminine et à garantir l’équité dans les instances décisionnelles.

Le Président Talon, en réponse, a exhorté les élues à affirmer leur leadership et à s’impliquer activement dans le débat politique. Sa position témoigne de la volonté du gouvernement béninois de promouvoir une gouvernance inclusive et équilibrée, reconnaissant la contribution essentielle des femmes dans le développement politique et social du pays.

Cette rencontre est un pas de plus vers la réalisation de l’égalité des sexes dans la sphère politique au Bénin. Elle reflète une prise de conscience croissante de l’importance de la diversité et de l’inclusion dans la gestion des affaires publiques. En encourageant la participation féminine et en établissant des quotas, le Bénin se positionne comme un leader dans la lutte pour l’égalité de genre en Afrique et au-delà.

En conclusion, cette initiative du Président Talon et la réponse des femmes parlementaires marquent une évolution positive dans le paysage politique béninois. Elles ouvrent la voie à une participation plus équitable des femmes dans la prise de décisions et renforcent le pilier démocratique de la représentation au sein des institutions nationales. Cet élan vers plus d’égalité et de diversité est un modèle pour les nations aspirant à une gouvernance plus inclusive et juste.
