Recrudescence des cas de Mpox au Burundi : les jeunes particulièrement touchés
Le Burundi fait face à une augmentation préoccupante des cas de Mpox, selon un récent rapport de l’UNICEF. Les jeunes âgés de 5 à 19 ans représentent désormais 33 % des cas enregistrés, une statistique qui a suscité l’alerte, notamment au moment où débute la nouvelle année scolaire. Dans une école située à l’ouest du pays, le personnel s’efforce de protéger les élèves et de mettre en place des mesures sanitaires adaptées.
La maladie, qui connaît une hausse de plus de 40 % ces dernières années, provoque une certaine inquiétude parmi les enfants, surtout après avoir été exposés à des images montrant les effets visibles du virus. Depuis juillet, le pays a signalé des centaines de cas suspects, et la République Démocratique du Congo, voisine, est également touchée par cette augmentation.
