Lundi 8 janvier marque le dĂ©but dâun procĂšs dâune ampleur inĂ©dite dans lâhistoire judiciaire française. Nicolas Sarkozy, ancien prĂ©sident de la RĂ©publique, comparaĂźt devant le tribunal correctionnel de Paris pour rĂ©pondre dâaccusations gravissimes liĂ©es au financement prĂ©sumĂ© de sa campagne prĂ©sidentielle de 2007 par le rĂ©gime libyen de Mouammar Kadhafi. Ce procĂšs, qui se tiendra sur quatre mois, sâannonce comme un vĂ©ritable marathon judiciaire, mĂȘlant corruption, dĂ©tournement de fonds publics et association de malfaiteurs.
Des accusations lourdes de conséquences
Sous le regard attentif des mĂ©dias et du public, Sarkozy, accompagnĂ© de trois de ses anciens ministres â Claude GuĂ©ant, Brice Hortefeux et Ăric Woerth â fait face Ă des chefs dâaccusation qui pourraient lui valoir jusquâĂ 10 ans de prison et 375 000 ⏠dâamende.
La justice soupçonne lâancien chef de lâĂtat dâavoir conclu un pacte de corruption avec Kadhafi dĂšs 2005. En Ă©change de financements occultes pour sa campagne, Sarkozy aurait promis de rĂ©habiliter le dictateur libyen sur la scĂšne internationale. Plusieurs tĂ©moignages et Ă©lĂ©ments matĂ©riels, tels que des preuves de dĂ©placements entre Paris et Tripoli, soutiendraient ces accusations.
Des absents et des zones dâombre
Outre les accusĂ©s prĂ©sents, lâaffaire met Ă©galement en lumiĂšre des figures absentes mais centrales. Abdallah Senoussi et Bachir Saleh, deux proches de Kadhafi, sont accusĂ©s dâavoir jouĂ© un rĂŽle clĂ© dans les transferts financiers. Leur exil complique lâenquĂȘte, tout comme les revirements de lâhomme dâaffaires Ziad Takieddine, un intermĂ©diaire clĂ© dans ce dossier. Ce procĂšs dĂ©passe les simples accusations judiciaires. Il interroge sur lâintĂ©gritĂ© des institutions françaises et sur les limites de la moralitĂ© politique.
