Les Guépards du Bénin ont brillamment débuté leur parcours dans la toute première édition de la Coupe du Monde de Maracana, disputée ce samedi 28 septembre 2024, en s’imposant face à la Jamaïque sur le score de 2-1.
Le coup d’envoi de cette compétition a été donné vendredi 27 septembre à Abidjan. Au Palais des Sports de Treichville, les joueurs dirigés par Juste Fleury Dansou ont parfaitement lancé leur aventure en décrochant une victoire prometteuse.
Dans le même temps, la Côte d’Ivoire avait ouvert les hostilités en battant la Belgique dans un match très disputé (6-5), suivi par une victoire convaincante du Burkina Faso contre le Sénégal (4-0). Pour mémoire, cette première édition du Mondial de Maracana rassemble 16 nations. Le Groupe A est composé de la Côte d’Ivoire, du Gabon, du Cameroun et de la Belgique, tandis que le Groupe B inclut le Bénin, la Jamaïque, la Guinée et la France. Le Groupe C réunit le Togo, le Burkina Faso, le Sénégal et la Guinée-Bissau, et enfin, le Groupe D est formé par le Mali, le Canada, les États-Unis et le Brésil.
