📉🇧🇯 Bénin en tête de lutte contre la pauvreté au sein de l’UEMOA selon l’EHCVM 2022
Dans une récente enquête menée par l’Enquête Harmonisée sur les Conditions de Vie des Ménages (EHCVM), le Bénin s’est distingué parmi les pays de l’Union Économique et Monétaire Ouest-Africaine (UEMOA), enregistrant le taux de pauvreté monétaire le plus bas en 2022. Avec une incidence de pauvreté monétaire fixée à 36,2%, le Bénin marque une amélioration notable par rapport à sa mesure précédente en 2019, où le taux était de 38,5%.
Cette information est d’autant plus significative qu’elle place le Bénin en tête de la liste des huit pays membres de l’UEMOA, signalant une progression remarquable dans les efforts de lutte contre la pauvreté. Cette avancée s’illustre dans l’amélioration des seuils de pauvreté qui sont passés de 246 542 en 2019 à 287 175 en 2022.
Les résultats de l’EHCVM sont cruciaux pour comprendre les conditions de vie des ménages dans les pays membres de l’UEMOA et jouent un rôle central dans l’élaboration des politiques de développement économique et social. Ils sont un baromètre des progrès réalisés par les différents gouvernements en termes d’amélioration des conditions de vie et de réduction de la pauvreté.
Le reste des pays de l’UEMOA, bien que témoignant pour certains d’une légère baisse de la pauvreté, n’a pas connu le même niveau d’amélioration que le Bénin. Le Burkina Faso, par exemple, a enregistré un taux de pauvreté de 44,1% en 2022 contre 41,4% en 2019, et le Sénégal est passé de 37,8% en 2019 à 37,6% en 2022, démontrant une amélioration minime.
L’engagement du Bénin dans la mise en œuvre de stratégies efficaces contre la pauvreté semble payer. L’attention particulière portée à la croissance économique inclusive et au développement des infrastructures, à l’éducation et à la santé a sans doute joué un rôle crucial dans cette réussite.
