Coopération Militaire Franco-Béninoise : Les Détails Révélés par l’Ambassadeur Marc Vizy

L’ambassadeur de France près le Bénin, Son Excellence Marc Vizy, a donné un aperçu de la coopération militaire entre la France et le Bénin, ainsi que du soutien que la France apporte dans la lutte contre la menace terroriste. S.E.M. Vizy a fait ces déclarations le vendredi 14 juillet 2023.

Face à un ennemi commun – le terrorisme et le djihadisme – la France et le Bénin ont engagé une coopération mutuelle pour combattre cette menace, a souligné S.E.M. Marc Vizy. Un élément clé de cette coopération est un programme de formation militaire : “Ce sont des groupes de 3 à 12 militaires français qui viennent régulièrement au Bénin pour une durée de 15 jours, afin de conduire une formation et un entraînement avec leurs camarades béninois dans divers domaines. Ces formations peuvent inclure ce que nous appelons les Écoles Nationales à Vocation Régionale (ENVr)”.

En 2022, une quarantaine de Français ont effectué un séjour à Tanguiéta, et des militaires français ont également formé des soldats béninois à Kandi dans le cadre de la lutte contre la menace djihadiste. Cependant, l’ambassadeur a été catégorique sur un point : “Non ! Il n’y a pas de base militaire française dans le nord du Bénin. Je peux vous le confirmer. Si vous trouvez quelqu’un qui vous le dit, je suis prêt à ce qu’il m’amène en voiture me la montrer. Il n’y a pas de base militaire”, a insisté le diplomate français.

Ces déclarations de S.E.M. Marc Vizy clarifient donc la nature et l’étendue de la coopération militaire entre la France et le Bénin, confirmant que si la France soutient activement le Bénin dans la lutte contre le terrorisme, elle n’a pas établi de base militaire permanente dans le pays.
