Cantines scolaires : La vice-présidente Mariam Chabi Talata à l’EPP Lago.

Le Bénin est devenu une référence en matière de cantines scolaires en Afrique de l’Ouest. Le programme d’alimentation scolaire intégré (PASI) lancé depuis plusieurs années a permis d’assurer une alimentation saine et structurée pour les élèves du primaire à travers tout le pays. La vice-présidente de la République, Mariam Chabi Talata, a récemment visité l’école primaire publique de Lago, dans la commune de Dangbo, pour s’assurer du bon fonctionnement des cantines scolaires. Elle a souligné l’ambition du Bénin de parvenir à 100% de couverture des écoles en matière de cantines scolaires et d’évoluer vers le secondaire.

Le Programme national d’alimentation scolaire intégrée est un projet multisectoriel qui intègre l’éducation, l’agriculture, la santé, la nutrition, l’hygiène, l’assainissement et bien d’autres secteurs. Les séances d’éducation nutritionnelle, la mise en œuvre des jardins scolaires et d’autres activités complémentaires permettent d’assurer la durabilité de ce programme. Le PNASSI a pour ambition d’offrir une alimentation saine et équilibrée à tous les enfants béninois, en particulier ceux des zones rurales.

Le président de la République, Patrice Talon, s’est engagé à garantir que chaque enfant au Bénin ait accès à une alimentation quotidienne. Plus de 3 000 écoles ont été identifiées en 2018 comme bénéficiaires du PNASSI à travers le pays. L’école primaire publique visitée, qui  compte 266 élèves du CI au CM2, bénéficie également de ce programme. Son taux de réussite au CP est de 100% depuis six ans.

La visite de la vice-présidente de la République à l’école primaire publique de Lago a permis de constater l’impact positif de ce programme sur le terrain. Elle s’est réjouie de la qualité de la cuisine, du réfectoire et du jardin de l’école. Mariam Chabi Talata a exprimé sa gratitude envers le gouvernement béninois pour ce projet qui lui est cher. Elle a également souligné l’importance de la volonté politique pour la transformation de la société et de l’environnement.

Le Bénin peut être fier de son programme d’alimentation scolaire intégré qui a été salué à l’échelle internationale. Le pays a été désigné “champion des cantines scolaires” lors de la participation de la vice-présidente de la République à la réunion du Conseil d’administration du Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM) à Rome en juin 2022. Le Bénin est donc sur la bonne voie pour garantir une éducation saine et durable pour les générations futures.
