Candide Azannaï dénonce un coup d’État « virtuel » et une instrumentalisation politique 🇧🇯
Candide Azannaï, ancien ministre et président du parti Restaurer l’Espoir (RE), a pris la parole une nouvelle fois publiquement sur la tentative présumée de coup d’État du 27 septembre 2024. Il a dénoncé ce qu’il considère comme une manipulation orchestrée par le gouvernement de Patrice Talon, affirmant qu’il s’agit d’une opération de diversion politique et non d’une véritable menace contre la sécurité nationale.
Un montage politique ?
Azannaï critique vertement la mise en scène autour de l’arrestation de Olivier Boko et Oswald Homéky, accusés de « complot contre la sûreté de l’État ». Selon lui, la présumée tentative de coup d’État n’aurait jamais eu lieu, mais aurait été créée pour justifier la répression politique contre des ces deux personnalités. Dans une déclaration publique, il a comparé cette situation à une précédente affaire de 2013, où des personnalités comme le colonel Megoungnan et Johannes Dagnon avaient été impliquées dans une affaire similaire qui s’était conclue par un non-lieu judiciaire.

Azannaï affirme que ce soi-disant coup d’État n’est qu’un prétexte pour éloigner les voix critiques du pouvoir actuel. « Il s’agit d’un montage politique visant à obtenir des preuves fictives à charge pour des règlements de comptes personnels et politiques », a-t-il déclaré. Il estime que les autorités cherchent à intimider les opposants tout en utilisant la justice comme instrument de répression.
Un climat politique tendu
Depuis l’arrestation de Boko et Homéky, la situation politique au Bénin est particulièrement tendue. Le porte-parole du gouvernement a pris position publiquement en affirmant que toute personne ne condamnant pas cette tentative de coup d’État est automatiquement complice. Cette déclaration a attisé la polémique et a suscité l’indignation dans plusieurs milieux politiques, où l’on considère que le gouvernement tente de manipuler l’opinion publique.

Selon Azannaï, la véritable menace pour le pays n’est pas un coup d’État, mais plutôt la dérive autoritaire du régime actuel. Il a également dénoncé les réformes politiques du président Talon, qu’il qualifie d’« absurdes » et d’« incongrues », les décrivant comme des tentatives d’affaiblir l’opposition et de consolider un pouvoir personnel. Le chef de Restaurer l’Espoir appelle à la vigilance et à la résistance face à ce qu’il considère comme des dérives politiques dangereuses pour la démocratie béninoise.

Azannaï encourage les Béninois à ne pas se laisser intimider par les menaces du gouvernement. Il a souligné l’importance de rester ferme et déterminé dans la défense des valeurs démocratiques et républicaines. Il a affirmé qu’il continuerait à dénoncer les abus du pouvoir en place, déclarant que « quand la bêtise gouverne, l’intelligence devient un délit », reprenant ainsi une célèbre citation de l’écrivain Henry de Montherlant pour illustrer son propos.
