Bénin : Arrestation du Général Houndégnon après ses critiques virulentes contre le régime 🇧🇯⚖️

La tension politique au Bénin a franchi un nouveau cap ce mercredi 13 novembre 2024, avec l’arrestation spectaculaire du Général Louis-Philippe Houndégnon à son domicile à Abomey-Calavi. Cette opération intervient quelques jours seulement après ses déclarations publiques fracassantes, où il dénonçait une dérive autoritaire du régime de Patrice Talon et défiait ouvertement les autorités en affirmant qu’il était prêt à être arrêté. Ce mercredi l’opération a démarré un peu avant 16 heures. La maison du général a été encerclé par la police républicaine et les accès à son domicile bloqués. Peu de temps après la connexion internet lui a été coupée. De sources policières, Le Général Louis Phillipe Houndégnon n’a opposé aucune résistance face aux policiers qui sont venus procéder à son interpellation. D’autres sources ont confirmé que le Général s’était apprêté et attendait l’arrivée de la police pour les suivre.

Un climat de répression croissante dénoncé par Houndégnon 🚨🛑

Avant son arrestation, le général à la retraite s’était exprimé lors d’une interview, critiquant le non-respect par le gouvernement des décisions rendues par la Cour africaine des droits de l’homme et des peuples. Selon lui, les réformes constitutionnelles de 2019 et les élections législatives qui ont suivi sont juridiquement invalides. “Toutes les lois adoptées par l’Assemblée nationale depuis 2019 sont frappées d’inexistence juridique”, avait-il affirmé.

Houndégnon, connu pour ses critiques virulentes, avait accusé le régime de Talon de s’accrocher à un pouvoir sans légitimité constitutionnelle, évoquant même une trahison des principes démocratiques établis par la Constitution de 1990.

Malgré les rumeurs persistantes sur son arrestation imminente, Houndégnon avait refusé de se cacher, déclarant que sa maison était ouverte à ceux qui viendraient le chercher. Lors de son interview, il avait aussi annoncé une grande célébration prévue pour le 11 décembre, destinée à honorer la Constitution béninoise, affirmant que cette fête aurait lieu malgré toutes les pressions.

  4. Il y a aujourd’hui et il y aura demain le pouvoir au bénin n’a pas encore compris les aspirations de ce peuple.
    Nous sommes fatigués de ce régime et les porteurs de la rupture sont en train de faire du forcing. Nous les invitons à corriger le tir avant qu’il ne soit tard :
    – convoquer très rapidement un dialogue national afin d’unir les fils et filles de ce pays.
    – abrogation du code électoral en cours.
    – application des décisions de la cour africaine de droits de l’homme et des peuples
