Bénin 🚫❌: Le Gouvernement dément fermement la rumeur d’une base militaire française près de Kandi

Les médias sociaux sont en effervescence suite à une émission radiophonique de la célèbre Radio France Internationale (RFI), qui prétend qu’une base militaire française est en construction près de la ville de Kandi, dans le Bénin. Le porte-parole du gouvernement béninois, Wilfried Léandre HOUNGBÉDJI, a rapidement pris les devants pour démentir cette information.

D’après la Revue de Presse Africaine de RFI, animée par le journaliste Frédéric COUTEAU le mardi 26 septembre 2023, un site d’information nommé « Mourya Niger » a émis l’hypothèse de la construction imminente de cette base militaire. Cette affirmation serait liée au retrait progressif des troupes françaises du Niger.

Le site d’information a également avancé que, bien que le gouvernement du Bénin tente de démentir cette rumeur, il admet néanmoins la présence d’instructeurs français et belges à Kandi, impliqués dans la lutte antiterroriste.

Le porte-parole du gouvernement, dans un effort pour éclaircir la situation, a rapidement publié une réfutation de ces allégations sur sa page Facebook. « Il s’agit d’élucubrations de gens en quête de sensation », a déclaré HOUNGBÉDJI, insistant sur le fait que le Bénin ne construit pas de base militaire française et que les instructeurs français et belges mentionnés étaient repartis depuis plus de six mois.

Tout en reconnaissant la collaboration passée avec des instructeurs français, belges et américains, HOUNGBÉDJI a catégoriquement rejeté l’idée de la construction d’une base militaire dans la région de l’Alibori. Il a exhorté le public à ne pas céder aux « affirmations sans fondement » et a souligné l’importance de la vérification des faits dans le paysage médiatique actuel.

Cette déclaration du gouvernement vise à mettre un terme à la spéculation et à rassurer les citoyens du Bénin sur les engagements et les actions du pays en matière de sécurité.
