Adjarra, une commune située dans le département de l’Ouémé, traverse une période difficile suite aux fortes pluies qui s’abattent depuis quelques jours. Ces pluies ont laissé derrière elles de nombreuses personnes sans abri et d’importants dégâts matériels.
La délégation du Conseil communal, conduite par le maire et le secrétaire exécutif, a rendu visite aux zones sinistrées pour constater la gravité de la situation. Parmi les zones les plus touchées se trouvent le carrefour, point de jonction entre la commune d’Adjarra et celle de Porto-Novo, et le quartier Malanhui, où des habitants sont littéralement pris au piège par les eaux.
Le problème est d’autant plus grave que certains bassins de retenue d’eau, réalisés par des entreprises de travaux publics, sont sortis de leur lit, aggravant les dégâts dans la commune d’Adjarra. Par ailleurs, certains de ces bassins, mal conçus, ne peuvent contenir l’eau drainée par les caniveaux, tandis que d’autres ne sont pas encore fonctionnels.
Face à cette situation critique, les autorités communales lancent un appel à l’aide au gouvernement. En attendant une intervention plus globale, elles prennent des dispositions pour reloger les personnes sinistrées. Des sites sont actuellement identifiés pour accueillir les sans-abris, y compris la résidence du maire. La députée Cécile Ahoumènou a également visité les zones sinistrées, appelant les entreprises en charge des travaux publics à revoir leur technique de réalisation des bassins d’eau. Cette situation inquiétante a mis la commune d’Adjarra en alerte rouge. Les populations craignent le pire en cette saison pluvieuse si rien n’est fait pour résoudre rapidement le problème des bassins de retenue d’eau.
