La brigade spéciale de surveillance anti-vandalisme (CG SAVMS) du Corps de sécurité et de défense civile du Nigeria (NSCDC) a réalisé hier une découverte majeure en interceptant plus de 15 bateaux chargés de diesel frelaté à destination de Cotonou. Ces embarcations transportaient illégalement plus de 4500 barils de carburant.
Selon les informations rapportées par l’Association nationale des éditeurs de presse en ligne pour la sécurité (NAOSNP), cette saisie importante a été effectuée lors d’une opération menée par la brigade spéciale de surveillance anti-vandalisme du NSCDC dans les communautés d’Eket et d’Ibenno, dans l’État d’Akwa Ibom. Le chef de l’escouade a exprimé son engagement à réduire au minimum les actes de vandalisme et de vol de pétrole, soulignant l’importance de cette mission pour la préservation des ressources et la sécurité du pays.
Cette opération intervient dans un contexte particulier, alors que le président Bola Tinubu a pris la décision de mettre fin à ces pratiques afin de réduire le déficit budgétaire du pays. En effet, le Nigeria ne peut plus se permettre de subventionner le carburant à hauteur de plus de 10 milliards de dollars par an. Le budget 2023 a d’ailleurs prévu une subvention du carburant jusqu’au 30 juin 2023.Cette saisie majeure témoigne des efforts déployés par les autorités nigérianes pour lutter contre le trafic de carburant frelaté et garantir la sécurité énergétique du pays. Elle démontre également la détermination du président Bola Tinubu à mettre fin à ces pratiques illégales et à promouvoir une gestion responsable des ressources énergétiques.
