Dénoncer les "gaymen" via les numéros verts
Le Bénin se mobilise contre la cybercriminalité en mettant en place de nouvelles mesures visant à traquer les cybercriminels, également connus sous le nom de “gaymen”. Dans cette optique, le gouvernement béninois a récemment lancé des numéros verts dédiés à la dénonciation des activités criminelles en ligne. Cependant, il est crucial de veiller à ce que ces initiatives ne donnent pas lieu à des abus ou à des dénonciations infondées.
Dans cette nouvelle ère numérique, la lutte contre la cybercriminalité est devenue une priorité pour de nombreux pays, dont le Bénin. Le gouvernement, soucieux de protéger les citoyens et de garantir la sécurité en ligne, a pris des mesures pour renforcer les efforts de détection et de prévention des activités criminelles sur Internet. La mise en place de numéros verts pour la dénonciation des cybercriminels est une initiative louable dans cette lutte. Elle permet aux citoyens de signaler les activités suspectes et de contribuer à l’identification et à l’arrestation des auteurs de cybercrimes. Toutefois, il est primordial de rappeler que ces numéros verts doivent être utilisés de manière responsable et éthique, afin d’éviter toute dénonciation abusive ou injustifiée.
Parallèlement à cette mesure, l’Office Central de Répression du Cybercrime (OCRC) du Bénin joue un rôle clé dans la lutte contre la cybercriminalité. Les personnes qui préfèrent ne pas utiliser les numéros verts peuvent également contacter directement l’OCRC pour signaler des activités suspectes en ligne. Cela permet une meilleure coordination entre les autorités compétentes pour enquêter sur les cas de cybercriminalité.
Dans ses efforts de lutte contre la cybercriminalité, le gouvernement béninois a obtenu des résultats significatifs. Selon le Procureur Spécial de la Cour de répression des infractions économiques et du terrorisme (CRIET), plus de 1 188 cybercriminels, également appelés “gaymen”, ont été arrêtés et détenus au Bénin. Parmi eux, 1 074 ont déjà été condamnés entre 2021 et 2023. Cependant, à la date d’aujourd’hui (21 août 2023), 114 cybercriminels sont toujours en attente de jugement. Il est important de souligner que la lutte contre la cybercriminalité nécessite une approche équilibrée qui garantit le respect des droits fondamentaux des individus et prévient les abus potentiels. Il est essentiel de veiller à ce que les enquêtes et les poursuites se fassent dans le respect de l’État de droit, en accordant une attention particulière à la présomption d’innocence et à la protection de la vie privée des personnes concernées.
La traque des cybercriminels au Bénin s’inscrit dans un contexte mondial où les pays cherchent à renforcer leur capacité à lutter contre les menaces en ligne.
