La Confédération syndicale des travailleurs du Bénin (CSTB) appelle à une marche pacifique à Cotonou pour commémorer la journée internationale du travail ce 1er mai 2023. Les travailleurs de toutes les catégories, y compris les salariés, les artisans, les conducteurs, les transporteurs, les hommes et femmes des marchés, les ouvriers, les jeunes demandeurs d’emploi et les étudiants sont invités à se mobiliser et à prendre part massivement à cette marche pour exiger des améliorations de leurs conditions de vie et de travail.
Dans un appel à la mobilisation publié le 17 avril 2023, la CSTB a souligné les multiples réformes entreprises par le gouvernement actuel, qui ont eu pour conséquence la destruction des entreprises publiques, parapubliques et privées, la privatisation des secteurs stratégiques et vitaux tels que le Port Autonome de Cotonou et la SBEE, ainsi que la remise en cause des droits sociaux et économiques acquis.
Les travailleurs ont également dénoncé la non-application de la revalorisation du SMIG dans le secteur privé, la kyrielle de taxes sur les produits de première nécessité, la hausse des prix des produits pétroliers, de l’électricité, de l’eau et les licenciements massifs programmés.
La marche pacifique commencera à 7 heures du matin à l’Etoile Rouge et se dirigera ensuite vers la Bourse du Travail. La CSTB a réaffirmé son engagement en faveur des libertés syndicales et de l’amélioration des conditions de vie et de travail des travailleurs béninois.
Cette marche est une occasion pour les travailleurs de montrer leur solidarité et leur détermination à défendre leurs droits et à améliorer leurs conditions de vie et de travail. La CSTB espère que le gouvernement prendra en compte leurs revendications et agira en conséquence pour le bien-être de la population béninoise.
