🛑 Bénin : Les conditions de détention d’Olivier Boko dénoncées par son avocat

Les conditions de détention d’Olivier Boko, homme d’affaires béninois accusé de complot contre la sûreté de l’État, suscitent une vive inquiétude. Son avocat, maître Paul Kato Atita, a exprimé des préoccupations majeures concernant les traitements infligés à son client, lors d’une déclaration récente.

Des conditions de détention jugées inhumaines

Incarcéré depuis le 24 septembre 2024 à la prison civile de Missérété, Olivier Boko vit dans un isolement total. D’après son avocat, il est enfermé dans sa cellule 24 heures sur 24, sans accès à la lumière naturelle ni possibilité de prendre l’air, une situation qui s’est dégradée au cours des dernières semaines.

« Il est interdit de sortir de sa cellule. Il ne voit pas le soleil, et des brouilleurs sont installés dans son espace de détention. À quelles fins ? Personne ne le sait », s’indigne maître Atita. Ces dispositifs de brouillage, selon lui, ont des effets psychologiques et sanitaires graves sur son client, déjà moralement éprouvé.

Appel à la dignité humaine et à la justice

🎙️ Bénin – Le gouvernement favorable à la révision du code du numérique

Pour maître Atita, « même le plus grand criminel a droit à la dignité lorsqu’il est incarcéré ». Il appelle les autorités compétentes à intervenir pour améliorer les conditions de détention de son client. L’avocat a également interpellé le procureur spécial de la Cour de répression des infractions économiques et du terrorisme (CRIET), lui demandant de plaider en faveur de meilleures conditions pour Olivier Boko.
