Un drame tragique a secoué le quartier Guema, situé dans le 3e arrondissement de Parakou, ce mercredi 18 septembre 2024. Le corps sans vie d’un enfant d’environ un an et demi a été retrouvé dans un caniveau rempli d’eau, suite à une pluie abondante qui s’est abattue sur la ville.
La victime, un jeune garçon jumeau, jouait dehors pendant que sa mère, une coiffeuse, travaillait dans son atelier à proximité. L’incident s’est produit alors que la ville venait de subir de fortes précipitations. À environ 17 heures, une voisine a fait la terrible découverte du corps inanimé de l’enfant, flottant dans le caniveau. Selon une proche de la famille, l’eau de pluie avait rempli le caniveau, et c’est à ce moment-là que le petit garçon y aurait glissé.
Un drame qui choque la communauté
La nouvelle de cette tragédie a bouleversé le quartier. Le caniveau, situé non loin de l’atelier de la mère, s’est rapidement transformé en piège mortel pour l’enfant. L’accident soulève des questions sur la sécurité des enfants dans les zones où les infrastructures de drainage sont mal protégées. La mère, occupée à son travail, n’avait aucune idée de ce qui se passait, jusqu’à ce que la triste nouvelle lui soit rapportée.
