🇧🇯 Steve Amoussou, un dossier complexe en attente de clarification – Les raisons du Report selon son avocat

Le procès de Steve Amoussou, prévu pour ce lundi 7 octobre à la Cour de Répression des Infractions Économiques et du Terrorisme (CRIET), a été renvoyé au 18 novembre prochain. Une décision qui suscite des interrogations parmi les observateurs, mais aussi une certaine frustration du côté de la défense.

L’audience avait bien commencé, avec l’évocation du dossier de Steve Amoussou, mais quelques instants plus tard, la cour a décidé de procéder au renvoi pour continuation. Selon les avocats de l’accusé, ils n’avaient pas explicitement demandé ce renvoi, mais avaient plutôt demandé à consulter le dossier en profondeur avant d’aller plus loin dans la procédure. Les avocats avaient simplement sollicité que le dossier soit mis de côté pour leur permettre de le lire en détail et de mieux préparer leur défense.

La cour, cependant, a décidé autrement. Cette demande de consultation du dossier n’a pas été acceptée, et le tribunal a jugé nécessaire de renvoyer l’affaire. Cette décision de renvoi est souvent difficile à comprendre pour la défense, surtout lorsqu’elle est prise sans que les préliminaires aient été menés à bien. Pour un avocat, c’est toujours une déception quand un dossier aussi complexe est reporté sans avoir eu l’occasion de présenter les éléments préliminaires devant le juge.

Steve Amoussou, un cyberactiviste très actif, est poursuivi pour “harcèlement par voie électronique, initiation et publication de fausses nouvelles, et provocation directe à la rébellion”. Son arrestation à Lomé il y a quelques mois avait déjà fait grand bruit, et son placement sous mandat de dépôt en août dernier avait suscité de nombreuses réactions.
